About me
This page can be thought of as either a long-winded and rambling self description, or very short autobiography.
Web design and computing
I enjoy designing and coding easy-to-use websites, both in my job at Semantic, and also at home to help my family with their sites.
Since starting full time in January 2008 I've had experience with HTML, CSS, ASP & ASP.Net and JavaScript, along with Photoshop work, email marketing and SEO and Analytics.
NeilLewin.com is intended to be a simple gateway to gather all my online bits and pieces into one place, but it's been a little neglected of late, I'm hoping to completely redesign it soon!
Music and organ playing
I'm sure everyone loves listening to music, I couldn't imagine life without it! My favourite thing though is to combine listening to music and playing the organ - I've always been much better at playing aurally than reading the music!
Listening to a diverse range of songs on Spotify helps to ensure that I keep steadily increasing my repertoire.
My main aim is to start writing songs in my free time, so hopefully one day I'll be able to add them to NeilLewin.com!
Sailing and boating
I've amassed a fair few boating qualifications over the years including RYA Level 1 & 2 Dingy Sailing and Powerboating certificates.
The powerboating was used a great deal during my time at Old Windsor Lifeguards where we had crews patrolling popular venues like Dorney Lake on RIBs and Zapcats.
More recently I've started sailing yachts with my uncle in the Solent and surrounding area. So far I've got the Dayskipper qualification but look do more in the future.
Swimming teaching
Having had swimming lessons for many years, I decided to take up Swimming Teaching and passed the ASA Level 1 Teacher's certificate back in February 2002. Shortly after this I started teaching people of all ages and abilities from 5-year-olds through to adults at Windsor Leisure Centre .
In July 2004 I passed the ASA Level 2 Teacher Qualification and have since been on a number of development seminars to stay up-to-date.
Unfortunately I've had to cut down swimming teaching hours due to my full time job, but still work Saturday mornings at a local pool - a good way to start the weekend, if a little early!
Other hobbies
Here's the other stuff I cram into any spare time - although I'd love to be able to do more!
Cycling / Theme Parks / Badminton / Skiing / Lifesaving / Flying
... oh and photography - lots of it!
